Adani closes in on Ambani!

India’s Rich List has seen a massive change this year. The biggest gainer is Gautam Adani, whose wealth rose by $ 40 billion in 2021, making him the second richest Indian with a total wealth of $ 73.8 billion. Mukesh Ambani saw his total wealth rise by $ 8.4 billion to $ 85 billion.

Both Ambani and Adani are among the top 15 richest men in the world, as per the Bloomberg Rich List. Azim Premji was a distant number three with $38 billion, having gained $12 billion during the year. HCL’s Shiv Nadar and Radhakrishnan Damani of DMart were at number four and five respectively. Other richest Indians include Cyrus Poonawala, Laxmi Mittal, Savitri Jindal, Uday Kotak, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Dilip Sanghvi, Godrej family, Bajaj family among others.

Though till now India was considered to a poor, underdeveloped in country has made rapid strides wealth creation as the government policies are designed to make rich the richer and poor the poorer, widening the gap between rich and poor. Today India has the third largest number of billionaires in the world. At the end of 2020 there were over 700000 dollar billionaires in India.
