The Modi government plans to sell more airports in the first quarter of 2021, and the usual suspects to bid for the airports will be the Adani group and GMR.
The Modi government was already under attack by the Opposition for leasing out six airports to the Adani group. However, it is quite clear that the entire airport bidding process was open and transparent and several companies participated in the process. The companies who lost out are now complaining. The big question is: Why did they not bid higher than Adani? Similarly, Air India will now be sold to the Tatas as no other party has come forward. Likewise, the Adanis are likely to emerge the winner in the bids for the airports on the block.
