Are the Wadias of the Bombay Dyeing group fighting with each other? The draft prospectus of GoFirst Airlines shows that Jeh Wadia, son of Nusli Wadia, owns the brand name of the airline and the airline is pursuing ways to get the brand name from him.
77-year old Nusli Wadia, chairman of the airline, has already changed the brand name of the airline from GoAir to GoFirst so as to avoid any litigation. The airline is coming out with a Rs 3,700 crore share sale which will be used to pay off the debt of the airline.
As it is, the aviation industry is already in Covid-caused and lockdown-aggravated distress. And at this juncture, a family feud between the promoters of a prominent aviation player could have a spillover effect on the industry too. One hopes both Wadias settle their differences, if any, at the earliest.
