Will Noel step into Ratan Tata’s shoes?

All of 83 years, Ratan Tata continues to run Tata Trusts as its chairman and still commands a considerable influence over the Tata Sons board. There is a lot of speculation on who the next Tata Trusts chairman will be after Ratan Tata.

While Noel Tata is still in the reckoning according to group insiders, no one knows what the future holds for the group. The Mistry family, which own an 18.5 per cent stake in Tata Sons, is also keeping a close watch on the group and is raising funds by pledging its stake. With Tata group listed companies’ shares going up, the valuation of Tata Sons’ stake has also gone up.
