Junior Birlas’ yen for fine dining biz

A new generation of leaders is taking over key positions in the Aditya Birla group and they are keen to enter new business segments to prove their mettle.

The new generation led by Kumar Mangalam Birla’s daughter Ananya and Aryaman is keen to enter the QSR (quick service restaurant) and fine dining space.

Birla is planning to tie up with top chef Rahul Akerka and the business will be housed under the banner of Aditya Birla New Age (ABNA). ABNA will be promoted by Aryaman who plans to build premium casual dining restaurant chains across India, with its first restaurant to be launched in Mumbai in the next two months.

Birla, insiders say, is also looking at acquisition opportunities in the QSR segment as high disposable income makes consumers go out and eat more – as in any Western country.
