Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has urged the Ministries of Finance and Corporate Affairs to streamline processes and adopt a holistic approach to maximize their impact on national development. Speaking at the Chintan Shivir event, she emphasized the need for policy alignment with cultural values and instilling a strong sense of decision-making ownership for improved effectiveness.
Over three days, more than 100 senior officers from the Ministries of Finance and Corporate Affairs engaged in discussions at the Chintan Shivir event. The focus was on reorienting strategies to achieve the goals of the Amrit Kaal initiative.
Sitharaman encouraged officers to tap into the vast pool of resources and experience within the Government. She emphasized the importance of mentoring the younger generation to contribute effectively towards India's progress by 2047.
The Finance Minister challenged officers to expand their roles beyond the conventional and make a meaningful impact in various domains. The goal is to encourage the emergence of synergistic ideas that can benefit the overall ministry.
Highlighting the importance of sustained reform policy, Sitharaman stressed that both individual and institutional efficiencies are essential for long-term effectiveness and efficiency in public service delivery.
Recognizing information overload's counterproductive nature, the Union Finance Minister advocated for process simplification. This approach, she emphasized, should not only adopt a whole-of-Government perspective but also encompass a whole-of-the-country approach to enhance delivery and engagement.
Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary underscored the need for ambitious target orientation. These targets are crucial for India's journey toward becoming a developed country by 2047.
The session on the roles of the Ministries of Finance and Corporate Affairs in the Amrit Kaal initiative centered around four key themes: Capital Formation and Retention, Inclusive Growth, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, and Strengthening Public Finance.
Beyond the Chintan Shivir, Sitharaman also engaged with the G20 Finance Track India Team, highlighting India's commitment to global financial discussions.
