In a significant market rally, Nifty hit the 25,000 mark for the first time, opening 80 points higher at 25,030. Simultaneously, Sensex crossed the 82,000 mark, reaching a fresh record high of 82,129, up 388 points from the previous close of 81,741.
Nifty's Performance Nifty saw 38 stocks trading in the green, with Maruti, Coal India, Hindalco, JSW Steel, and Power Grid leading the gains, each rising up to 3% in early trading.
On the 30-stock Sensex index, 22 stocks were in positive territory. The top gainers included Maruti, JSW Steel, Power Grid, Tata Steel, and Adani Ports, each rising up to 3%. Maruti Suzuki's shares surged after reporting a 47% year-on-year increase in profit to Rs 3,650 crore, compared to Rs 2,485.1 crore in the same period last year.
Market Capitalization Surge The market capitalization of BSE-listed firms increased by Rs 1.62 lakh crore, rising to Rs 464 lakh crore from Rs 462.38 lakh crore the previous day.
A total of 206 stocks hit their 52-week highs on the BSE, while 10 shares touched their 52-week lows during early trading.
Out of 3,100 stocks, 2,026 were trading in the green, 966 were in the red, and 108 remained unchanged, indicating a positive market breadth.
Top Gaining Sectors The banking, consumer durables, and metal sectors were among the top gainers on the BSE, rising by 660 points, 289 points, and 260 points, respectively.
During the morning session, 151 stocks hit their upper circuit limits, while 57 shares reached their lower circuit limits.
Foreign and Domestic Investors Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 3,462.36 crore on a net basis on Wednesday, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 3,366 crore, according to provisional NSE data.
On Wednesday, the benchmark indices ended higher, with Sensex closing at 81,741, up 285 points, and Nifty finishing 94 points higher at 24,951. Today's market rally saw significant milestones with Nifty hitting 25,000 and Sensex crossing the 82,000 mark for the first time. Positive performances from key stocks and sectors, coupled with strong investor sentiment, contributed to this historic day in the stock market.
