The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has released its report on Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) for the January-March 2024 quarter, with Reliance Jio emerging as the leader.
Reliance Jio posted the highest AGR at Rs 25,330.97 crore, a 10.21% increase from the same period last year.
Bharti Airtel saw the sharpest growth in AGR, with a 13.25% increase to Rs 20,951.91 crore.
Vodafone Idea posted a marginal 2.22% increase in AGR to Rs 7,370.75 crore, while state-owned BSNL and MTNL saw declines of 4.41% and 13.78%, respectively.
The telecom service providers' gross revenue grew by 3.01% year-over-year to Rs 87,926 crore, while adjusted gross revenue grew by 9.25%.
The government's collection from licence fee and spectrum usage charges increased by
over 10% to Rs 6,506 crore on a year-over-year basis.
Accordingly, the telecom sector has shown growth in the March 2024 quarter, with Reliance
Jio leading the pack. The increase in AGR and gross revenue indicates a positive trend in
the industry, with government collections also seeing an uptick. This growth is a testament to
the sector's resilience and potential for future expansion.
